"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has
anointed me to bring glad tidings to the poor. . . liberty
to captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the
oppressed go free..." (Lk 4:18)
A Mission of St. John the Baptist Parish
411 FLorence St, Ypsilanti, MI 48197
The idea for the Catholic Urban Project began in 2006, when Fr. Bob
Roggenbuck noticed the lack of the Church's presence in certain urban
areas. The idea persisted, and plans were developed. A director was
hired in September 2009, and the program launched the first summer
program in 2010 in Ypsilanti, MI. A second site in Flint, MI was added in
Summer 2011. We pray that we can be open to where the Holy Spirit is
leading, and believe that this program has the potential of being
expanded to other urban parishes.
